"Thankful for Sam

After months of living this nightmare, including ineffective and insensitive attorneys, a complete draining of savings and the constant drowning feeling, we found Sam. 

My son was beginning his freshman year when a consensual sexual experience met the #atmetoo movement and the girl, who according to her own words regretted the encounter because it did not make her feel better after a recent breakup, started a Title IX action. After an "investigation" by a single female employee at the school, without the benefit of even knowing the allegations until a decision was made and without a hearing or any semblance of due process, my son was expelled. We were despondent when we found Sam.

Working with Sam, who helped our son craft an honest essay explaining circumstances without admitting guilt (since he wasn't guilty), our son was accepted into six schools as a transfer student, including one of the most highly competitive State schools in our State. Sam gave us a path forward.

There are no real words that express what Sam has done for our family. He is uniquely knowledgeable and kind at a time when we needed both."

 "Sam Sneed is so kind and compassionate. He understands the horrors that a wrongful Title 9 finding can put on an innocent student and works tirelessly to get that student back on track. My eighteen-year-old son was in a very dark place, having been falsely accused then expelled from college despite all the evidence that proved his innocence. He lost faith in the system and fell into a dangerously scary depression. Then came Sam who, besides being an incredible listener, is also a very knowledgeable college counselor and undeterred motivator. With his guidance, my son was able to re-calibrate and return to the business of following his dreams. It was not at all easy, but two years later I am happy to report that my son is doing well at the new college Sam helped him find and apply to and is looking forward to graduate school. "

"There are no words to express the appreciation we have for Sam Sneed’s kind guidance in helping our son go through the process of getting back into school. It is a tragic experience for a young man and his family to go through a Title IX accusation and process with no due process. First, my son had to find a reason to want to continue living. Then he had to find a reason to keep on trying.  I would tell others, as I told him, to focus on your own personal value and abilities. Define yourself in your own terms, not through the eyes of people who really do not care. Do not even expect them to care. Be strong and follow your own path because you will survive this. You are not alone going through this.

My son had to separate himself from the classic goals of education at least for a while. This was not easy for him to put down, but it was a very helpful step in recovery. For a while he refused to consider completing a college degree. I was in agreement with that. The educational system had betrayed us. 

Once he decided to try to go back to school, I was in agreement with that as well. Only he could know when the time was right for this.

That is where Sam came in. Going through this process seemed incredibly hard, but Sam broke it down into manageable steps. He had seen a number of people go through this before and succeed. He gave hope. His experience and encouragement were incredibly valuable.

My son will be attending a much higher ranked school than before. They know the full story of what happened. My son finally got to tell his story. The admissions committees listened. Thank you Sam."
